Mystical Masquerade Ball Fundraiser

April 6, 2013.  The Youth Leaders Peace Group put on a fundraiser for LFFP Peace Camp at UUCA.  It was a great event for the kids to learn how to be leaders and put together an event.  They had fun learning how to put on a masquerade ball.  The event turned out wonderfully, as you can see from the photos.

On May 10 LFFP went to Greenbriar Learning Center in Alexandria, Virginia to teach the Americorps volunteers the skills necessary to promote non-violence. The local teens and adults work with students from the area after school and were interested in how to handle situations that could potentially be violent.

Allison Tolle Joining the Peace Train

Hello all!  I am Allison Tolle and I'm going to be joining the LFFP team for the summer! I am a current Senior at Eastern Mennonite University studying Social Work. At EMU we are required to do a cross-cultural. An alternative to going out of the country is to live in DC and participate in the Washington Community Scholar's Center on Taylor Street.

Iota Nu Delta from George Washington visit Perry on Easter Sunday

On March 31, 2013, Easter Sunday, the Iota Nu Delta fraternity of George Washington University visited the Peace Room at Perry School as a community service involvement activity.  They helped out working in the garden and producing spring decorations.  Thank you Iota Nu Delta!

DePaul Peace and Justice Students visit Mt Rainier Christian Church and Perry School

On Monday March 25, the DePaul group visited the Peace Room and met the Perry Kids.  They helped in the peace class and with their homework.  The DePaul students were a big hit because took an interest in them and cared for them with their hearts.

UConn students with MJ in the Peace Room

On March 21, 2013, University of Connecticut service learning students visited Washington, DC for one week.  While they spent most of their week helping out at the Father McKenna homeless shelter and soup kitchen, they visited the Perry School Community Peace Room to help the Peace Kids with projects and their homework.  It was a time of real peace-building.

DePaul University Peace and Justice students receive training from MJ and Jerry

March 24, 2013.  Little Friends for Peace directors MJ and Jerry welcomed DePaul University students from Chicago, who live in an intentional community and study peace and justice issues.   MJ and Jerry gave an orientation and workshop on the mission of LFFP and its work of teaching peace building and tools for solving problems nonviolently.

Karishma loves a child.

Kendra and Karishma, two students from George Washington University,
have been faithfully coming to the Peace Room for the last 3 1/2 years.  They are now into their final semester as seniors.  They bring a lot of peace, guidance and love to the students.
